Central Noble Community School Corp. has a new superintendent - a really new superintendent.
The CN school board Tuesday voted to hire Christopher Daughtry as its new superintendent. It's his first time working as a superintendent, but, according to corporation business manager Stan Jacob, Daughtry still brings a variety of useful experience to the job.
"It's going to be good having someone with principal background, teacher background and also some central office experience," Jacob said. That means Daughtry will be up to speed on many different issues that face school corporations in Indiana today.
Daughtry has worked as a teacher at Mintonye Elementary Schools and in the Tippecanoe school district in Lafayette, Jacob said. He served as principal at Wabash Elementary School from August 2003 to July 2006. Since 2006, he has been director of transportation for the Tippecanoe school district.
Daughtry has completed his education specialist coursework, Jacob said.
Married with four daughters under age 9, Daughtry said he believes that working and living in a small town such as Albion will be good for his daughters. That's one of the reasons he's eager to come to CN.
The choice of Daughtry comes at the end of the board's second search for a superintendent, with the first having ended without a selection in October 2009. This time has worked out well, Jacob said. "It seems to me they did a very good job of choosing a superintendent."
The board has been without a permanent superintendent since Dr. Stacey Hughes left in 2009 to accept a post with the Indiana Superintendent of Public Education's office. Dr. Paul Thomas served as interim superintendent for the 2009-2010 school year.Back to Top
